GRAND RAPIDS — The American Advertising Federation West Michigan has named Kendall College of Art and Design President Dr. Oliver H. Evans as the recipient of its Silver Medal Award for 2011.
Evans has been president of Kendall for the past 18 years. In his tenure, the school has grown to be the largest design school in Michigan and has made advancements in programs related to advertising, including graphic design, drawing, illustration, digital media and photography.

The AAF Silver Medal Award was established in 1959 to recognize people who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.

Silver Medal recipients are selected by a panel of past recipients who select the nominee.

“The handprint Dr. Evans has left on Kendall will continue to have an impact far into the future of the college and its graduates,” Tim Mroz, AAFWMI president, stated in a release. “His dedication to building a premier college of art and design in West Michigan is producing the next generation of world-class creative professionals in the region.”
