GRAND RAPIDS — A national truck leasing firm plans to open seven new franchise locations in the Midwest, including operations in Grand Rapids, Gaylord and the Upper Peninsula.

Bellevue, Wash.-based Premium PacLease, a unit of heavy truck maker PACCAR Inc., said the new Grand Rapids franchise is located at 7393 Expressway Ct. SW near U.S.-131 and 60th Street. The franchise will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of CSM Inc., which operates a Michigan Kenworth truck dealership at the facility.

Executives of PacLease, which operates a network of 450 commercial truck leasing location in the U.S. and Canada, said the new franchises in Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin reflect growth in the states' auto and agriculture industries.

“A resurgence in the automotive industry has driven growth in the economies of the Great Lakes Region, particularly in Michigan, where the economy grew at 2.3 percent in 2011, a top-10 pace,” Premier PacLease President Jim Moeller said in a statement. “As more cars are manufactured and sold, employment is growing and as more people go back to work they’re buying more durable and non-durable goods. That means private fleets need more trucks to move those goods.”
