PORTAGE — Chicago-based owner and hotel management company Odyssey Hotels is looking to build a new hotel near the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport.

The company, under the entity name ANR Kalamazoo Hotel 2 LLC, recently purchased an approximately 9,500-square-foot retail property at 2610 Airview Boulevard.

Signature Associates, which represented sellers David and Diane Gallivan, stated in a release that Odyssey plans to demolish the existing structure and build a three-story hotel at the site.

Rachit Dhingra, CEO for Odyssey Hotels, confirmed the purchase, but said further details couldn’t be disclosed at this time.

Odyssey owns and operates several Midwest hotels, including the Residence Inn Marriott in Kalamazoo. According to the company’s website, Odyssey is actively seeking investments in the $5 million to $25 million price range in the Midwest, with a focus on both cap rate and turnaround deals.

Joe Licavoli of Portage-based Jaqua Realtors represented Odyssey on the deal.
