July 29, 2013: Crystal Flash acquires C. Barron & Sons; Perrigo agrees to $8.6B Elan deal; developers propose Eastown residences; Zeigler Auto Group buys Chicago BMW dealership

The city of Grand Rapids has yet another LEED-certified building in its ranks as CityFlatsHotel today announced the building received LEED Gold certification. The CityFlatsHotel Grand Rapids and the CityFlatsHotel Holland are the only two LEED Gold-certified hotels in the state of Michigan, according to a release from the company. The five-story hotel at 83 Monroe Center was built in 2011. [3:46 p.m.]

Denison Yacht Sales, a leading yacht brokerage firm with offices in Florida, California and Mexico, has announced that it will build a Great Lakes office on the south shore of Holland’s Lake Macatawa. The office will be located in the Eldean Shipyard. In a release, the company said they consider Lake Michigan an excellent place for yachting, and also consider the short distance — 85 nautical miles — to Chicago to be a good strategy. Denison said they have two brokers in place for their Holland office. [2:06 p.m.]

Grand Rapids-based Crystal Flash announced today that the company has acquired fuel transportation firm C. Barron & Sons Inc. of Monroe, Mich. Under the deal, Crystal Flash gains more than 2,000 new customers, 28 employees and four new locations, according to a statement. The deal, which will be immediately accretive to earnings, also gives Crystal Flash a footprint in northern Ohio. The transaction was the sixth for Crystal Flash in the last 18 months, according to the company. The Charter Group of Grand Rapids advised Crystal Flash on the deal. The company did not disclose terms of the acquisition. [11:25 a.m.]
