Oct. 2, 2013: Lumbermen's finds partner to distribute composite products; Scott Wierda appointed to Michigan State Housing Development Authority Board

Grand Rapids-based Lumbermen’s Inc. is working with CPG Building Products to distribute its TimberTech line of composite products in Michigan, Indiana, western Ohio and northern Kentucky, according to a press release.

The West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum is hosting a lunch lecture on cause marketing and social purpose Monday, Oct. 14 at Amway’s Corporate Headquarters in Ada. Speakers for the event include Samuel Shiroff, VP of business and social responsibility for global consulting firm Edelman and Debra Kalmbach, manager of global corporate citizenship at Amway. Scott Wierda, managing partner at Grand Rapids-based real estate investment firm CWD Real Estate was recently appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Board. Wierda will serve as a Republican member for the remainder of a four-year appointment, ending March 10, 2015. He fills the seat left by the resignation of former member Rob Fowler.

In August, Grand Rapids bus service The Rapid awarded Burlington, Mass.-based mass transit fare systems provider Scheidt & Bachmann USA, Inc. the contract to provide fee collection infrastructure for the new Bus Rapid Transit Silver Line, according a release from the provider. Spanning 33 stations through Grand Rapids, Kentwood and Wyoming, the system will consist of 40 ticket vending machines, 40 platform validation devices, 10 handheld validation devices and two point of sale devices.
