The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has expanded its pre-check program to Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GFIA) in Grand Rapids. The program allows certain passengers to keep their shoes on at security checkpoints, as well as light outerwear and keeping laptop computers in carry-on bags.

The program at GFIA is available for passengers flying Delta Airlines via checkpoint A and passengers flying Southwest, United and American Airlines via checkpoint B. Those wishing to enroll in the program must go through a background check, fingerprinting and an $85 application fee. Passengers that are approved have a five-year membership in the pre-check program.
