Blue35, the collaborative workspace development between Haworth Inc. and Rockford Construction Company will soon have a new tenant on its ground floor.

Grand Rapids-based Interphase Interiors Inc., a Haworth distributor, will open Studio Blue on the ground floor at 35 Oakes Street SW. The space will be used as both a showroom and a space for Interphase’s employees to work, said Interphase president Randy DeBoer.

The 1,400 square foot space is currently undergoing construction and is projected to open in the first quarter of 2015.

Previously, Interphase had its showroom located in the MoDiv retail incubator space in downtown Grand Rapids, another Rockford-led project. DeBoer said that moving to Blue35 simply made more sense for Interphase.

The eight-story, renovated building reopened in February of this year as Blue35. It offers a variety of office environments, from coworking to space for full office buildouts. Mike Mraz, vice president of real estate development for Rockford, said that the coworking spaces are at 95 percent occupancy. Another ground floor space remains available for rent, Mraz said. Rockford hopes to find a restaurant or retailer to occupy the 3,100 square foot space, he said.
