Grand Rapids-based Lacks Enterprises Inc. has reached another milestone in its long company history. The Tier 1 automotive supplier announced that Nick Hrnyak will take over as president of the company, marking the first time a nonfamily member has held the position since the company was established in 1961, according to a news release.

“Nick’s promotion has as much to do with his professional qualifications as his ability to embrace the corporate culture, his overall character and his high integrity,” said Richard Lacks Jr., CEO of Lacks, in a statement. “Although Nick’s last name is not Lacks, he is as close to an extension of the Lacks family in his core beliefs as anyone I have come across in my 40 years with this company.”

Both Richard Lacks and Kurt Lacks will retain their current roles as CEO and Chairman of the Board, respectively.

Hrnyak led the company’s Plastic Plate LLC division as vice president and general manager prior to his promotion. He began at Lacks in 2002 after joining the company as the director of sales for Plastic Plate.

Lacks manufacturers composite wheel systems, trim and coatings for the automotive industry through three main business units. The company has 20 facilities throughout West Michigan and one in South Carolina, employing 2,850 people in total.

“I’m honored to continue the tradition of vision, leadership and growth that has been modeled by the Lacks family for generations,” Hrnyak said in a statement.
