Grand Rapids-based Fox Motor Group LLC continues to grow.

The automotive dealership chain announced in a statement today that it has acquired Seif Chevrolet, located at 632 East Main Street in downtown Caledonia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are excited for the opportunity to become part of the Caledonia community and expand our West Michigan representation with the innovative Chevrolet line up,” said Fox Motors owner and CEO, Dan DeVos in a statement. “The Seif family has worked hard for the community and customers and we will continue to serve the community proudly.”

Throughout the rest of the year Fox Motors said it will add staff and upgrade facilities, which includes a new car showroom, separate buildings for a collision center and used cars as well as parts and accessories departments.

The Seif store had included a Buick franchise, which is not included in the deal, according to Sarah Raymond, the marketing and communications manager at Fox. GM’s strategy has been to link the Buick and GMC brands and have standalone Chevrolet stores, she said. Since Fox already offers Buick at its Alpine Avenue dealership, it agreed to operate the Caledonia store as a single-brand Chevrolet store, she said.

Fox Motors sells 43 different brands at 29 locations in Grand Rapids, northern Michigan and the Chicago area. The company has more than 1,200 employees and last year generated $631 million in sales, according to previous MiBiz reporting.

Editor’s note: This story has been changed to add updated information about the Buick franchise at the Caledonia store.
