Amid growing demand for industrial space in the greater Grand Rapids area, developers plan to construct two new buildings in Alpine Township.

Grand Rapids-based Kelting Investment Properties LLC plans two new buildings at 1019 4 Mile Road NW to help meet the demand for quality industrial space in the region.

The two buildings will be a combined 30,000 square feet (Building A will be 20,000 square feet and Building B will be 10,000 square feet). The buildings will be owned by Kelting Investments which will also occupy between 8,000 and 10,000 square of Building A, according to a statement.

Grand Rapids-based PowerStrength Training Systems LLC will lease 7,600 square feet of Building B. The rest of the space is up for lease with Matt Abraham and Trent Wieringa of the Grand Rapids office of Colliers International, who are the brokers for the property.

“Grand Rapids is growing rapidly with new construction being the best option for many companies expanding or looking to put down roots in West Michigan,” Abraham said in a statement. “This new construction is gaining attention from a wide variety of tenants and getting leased before it even exists.”

The overall cost for the project was not disclosed.

Grand Rapids-based CopperRock Construction Inc. will serve as the general contractor for the facility.

According to the second quarter market report from Colliers, the overall vacancy rate for industrial space in West Michigan stands at 6 percent.
