LANSING — Neogen Corp. has acquired Quat-Chem Ltd., a chemical manufacturer of biocidal cleaning and disinfectant products based in the United Kingdom.

Neogen Corp. (Nasdaq: NEOG) acquired Quat-Chem as part of a strategy to expand the Lansing-based company’s portfolio of biosecurity business, according to a statement. Quat-Chem manufactures its disinfectants and cleaners for the dairy, poultry and swine industries and generates annual revenues of approximately $12 million.

Neogen Europe, the company’s Scotland-based subsidiary, will manage operations at Quat-Chem.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Quat-Chem deal marks Neogen’s third deal thus far this year. In May, Neogen inked a deal with Preserve International and Tetradyne LLC, both subsidiaries of Nevada-based Preserve International Corp. Like Quat-Chem, Preserve International and Tetradyne also manufacture cleaning and disinfectant products for the swine, dairy, poultry and food processing markets.

A month earlier the company acquired Brazil-based Deoxi Biotecnologia Ltda, an operator of an animal genomics lab.
