CASCADE TOWNSHIP — A pair of longtime homebrewers plan to turn their hobby into a business on the east end of 28th Street.
Business partners Jeff Coffey and Eric Fouch hope to open Thornapple Brewing Co. in a stripmall at 6262 28th Street SE by early March, according to a statement.
The proposed brewery is awaiting state approvals on permits to manufacture beer, cider, wine and spirits, according to state records. The owners also expect to offer a full kitchen featuring pizza and appetizers.
“After years of sharing original creations with friends, family and fellow brewers, we wanted to bring our experience to the public and enjoy it with a larger group,” Fouch said in a statement. “We simply want to enjoy our passion with those who will enjoy it with us.”
The 3,300-square-foot space will have seating for 88 people and operate on a 7-barrel brewing system.
“Our goal is to offer a brewpub that the Cascade community will enjoy as their local ‘watering hole,’” stated Coffey. “We love going to breweries all over Grand Rapids but having a location in our backyard is important. I have lived in Cascade for decades and it was clear that many folks were looking for a local brewpub where they could spend time with family and friends — around the corner.”
