GRAND RAPIDS — Nonprofit disability service provider Hope Network is set to break ground this spring on a $40 million affordable housing project after overcoming pandemic- and financing-related delays.

A former office furniture executive whose career includes positions at Kentwood Office Furniture and the former Herman Miller Inc., Bob Von Kaenel took over as Hope Network’s CEO on Dec. 1.

GRAND RAPIDS — Bob Von Kaenel, a longtime executive at Kentwood Office Furniture and Herman Miller Inc., has been named the new president and CEO of nonprofit health care services provider Hope Network.

The $3.9 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding that Network180 received from Kent County will help support mental health care services for people in a crisis.

The pending sale of Hope Network’s neuro rehabilitation business to a large, national care provider comes as the Grand Rapids-based nonprofit seeks to expand further into mental health care.
