A packaging company is spending $10.8 million to expand its operation in the region.

Green Bay, Wisconsin-based Green Bay Packaging has broken ground on a 107,000-square-foot expansion at its facility in Pavilion Township, at 5350 E. Kilgore Rd., just outside of Kalamazoo.

The company is adding three jobs at the location through the expansion.

The custom corrugated packaging specialist’s expansion includes the development of a new corrugating line, which will increase the facility’s sustainability efforts.

Incentive

The expansion is supported by a 12-year tax abatement approved by the Pavilion Township board.

The Kalamazoo-based economic development nonprofit Southwest Michigan First assisted Green Bay Packaging in securing the township incentive.

“The expansion of Green Bay Packaging is a testament to the company’s strong presence in southwest Michigan,” said Ron Kitchens, CEO and senior partner, Southwest Michigan First. “We are excited to celebrate that three families will benefit from new jobs created by this project, along with the lasting impact this investment has on our region and community.”
