Leasing is open for a newly constructed riverfront apartment building in downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids-based Orion Construction said last week it put the finishing touches on The Homes at River’s Edge, a $10.5-million project at 1001 Monroe Ave. NW, overlooking the Grand River.

The five-story building contains 32 apartments, consisting of 12 one-bedroom and 20 two-bedroom units, as well as 32 indoor parking spots.

Project owner Orion Real Estate Solutions, a division of Orion Construction, is leasing River's Edge units through Colliers International West Michigan.

Rates include one-bedroom units ranging from 814 to 876 square feet and starting at $1,300 a month, and two-bedroom units ranging from 1,103 to 1,333 square feet and starting at $2,000 a month.

The fifth floor also has two 1,654-square-foot townhome suites starting at $3,500 a month. Amenities include fireplaces, large balconies, custom kitchens and bathrooms, upgraded finishes and appliances and den or office space.

The ground floor will be home to Linear Restaurant, a “modern American” concept, which will feature a bar, patio dining overlooking the river and room service to tenants.

Linear recently held a job fair to hire staff and is looking to open this spring.

Progressive AE served as the architect for the project, and funding was provided both through Midland-based Chemical Bank and state incentives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, according to a previous Business Journal report.
