An audit, tax and advisory firm appointed a managing partner for the Michigan market.

KPMG LLP, a global firm that has its U.S. headquarters in Chicago, said last week that it named Kevin Voigt managing partner of its Detroit and Grand Rapids offices, effective Oct. 1.

He also is the national service line leader for the Tax Economic and Valuation Services (EVS) practice.

Voigt will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the offices and ensuring that KPMG in Detroit and Grand Rapids remains a great place to work for its 414 professionals.

He replaces Betsy Meter, who has served as KPMG Michigan managing partner since February 2018. She is retiring from the firm Dec. 31.

“Kevin is a respected business adviser and seasoned valuation professional whose strong local connections make him ideal for the role,” said Tandra Jackson, KPMG vice chair, growth and strategy. “He leads by example and is committed to living out firm values and building a more diverse team where sharing ideas, perspectives and candid feedback is encouraged.”

Based in Detroit, Voigt joined KPMG in 1995 and was admitted to the partnership in 2008. During his 25 years of business valuation experience, he helped grow the regional EVS practice and the Detroit tax function, serving as lead partner for several large clients.

Voigt said he has a passion for mentoring and talent development, along with giving back to the local community.

“I am excited to lead a talented and dedicated group of professionals who have the skills and expertise to help clients solve a broad range of challenges such as business and digital transformations, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, operational improvements and numerous other issues,” he said.

Voigt is a CPA and is accredited in valuation from the American Institute of CPAs. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
