If you take a close look at national homeless youth statistics, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) youth are one of the biggest groups at risk.

This year, the Frey Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary, as well as more than $125 million invested throughout Michigan. Over those four decades, the foundation has provided grants to West Michigan and Northern Michigan nonprofits, including Habitat for Humanity of Kent County, Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Grand Rapids Whitewater Inc. and many others.

When nonprofits need to find ways to work more efficiently and effectively, the answer could be as simple as tapping into the organization’s board of directors for advice or direction.

Ahead of its current season, the West Michigan Symphony decided to try something new.

When Birgit Klohs became the CEO of The Right Place Inc. on Nov. 30, 1987, she was the first woman CEO of a nonprofit economic development agency in the Midwest.

As nonprofits demand more sophistication from their executives, that’s giving rise to another sector: educating nonprofit leaders.

Above all else, the nonprofit Saugatuck Center for the Arts prioritizes serving its audience a strong product that keeps donors happy and willing to continue funding the organization.

Economic impact studies often ignore the contributions of Michigan’s nonprofit sector, but a recently released study conducted by Lansing-based Public Sector Consultants Inc. aims to correct that omission.

Vulnerable children and their families throughout the United States will soon have 120 individuals better positioned to help them achieve optimal health and well-being, access better food and pursue academic achievement and financial security.

For Goodwill nonprofits across West Michigan, donations of clothes and other household items help fuel the regional organizations’ efforts to provide people the training they need to become self-sufficient.
