WHAT WE DO

Samaritas focuses on serving people as an expression of the love of Christ. With this in mind, for nearly 90 years, Samaritas has served others throughout Michigan. As one of Michigan’s largest, faith-based, nonprofit health and human services organizations, Samaritas offers a full suite of local programs and services to lift up Michigan’s most vulnerable people.

WE:
• Are one of Michigan’s largest foster care and adoption agencies.

• Serve struggling families to strengthen them as a family unit and help them thrive with family preservation programming.

• Create new and safe homes for refugees, and provide cultural integration, job training and education.

• Offer Substance Use Disorder Services (SUD) services to help address the substance misuse issues in many Michigan households.

• Provide a safe haven and support services for homeless families.

• Provide affordable living communities for families, seniors and people with disabilities.

• Offer people with developmental disabilities support and group home families.

• Offer cost-effective independent living, memory care and rehab support for seniors in fun, faith-based communities.

ADVOCATE: Legislative, community and business partnerships large and small are needed to sustain funding and quality programs for Samaritas clients. Contact Kelli Dobner at Kelli.Dobner@samaritas.org to learn more.

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING

The Be the Rock Gala is one of two signature fundraising events for Samaritas. This elegant night raises awareness and funds for key Samaritas programs like foster care and refugee resettlement services. Advocates such as Rosalynn Bliss, Mayor of Grand Rapids, pictured here with Dave Morin and Kevin Van Den Bosch of Samaritas Rapids, were celebrated for their community work.
Maranda, Wood TV anchor, journalist and media personality, is a Samaritas advocate. She’s served as the emcee for The Be the Rock Gala for the past four years. Area business leaders were celebrated for their community work.
