Grand Rapids-based office technology dealer Applied Imaging has acquired a Cascade Township office building for its new corporate headquarters.
According to a statement, the company cited recent and projected growth as necessitating its move from the existing 25,000-square-foot headquarters at 5282 East Paris Ave. SE to its new building, a 60,000-square-foot facility at 5555 Glenwood Hills Parkway SE.
The company plans to move to the renovated building in July.
“Our growth throughout Michigan, both organically and through strategic acquisitions, has our current space at full capacity,” said John Lowery, Applied Imaging’s founder and president in a statement. “Plus, our managed network services program requires additional personnel supported by several sophisticated technology upgrades to keep up with the demand we’re experiencing for local network support.”
The new Glenwood Hills Parkway location will house Applied Imaging’s corporate headquarters, as well as its “Customer Loyalty Center,” which will include expanded showrooms and service dispatch, currently located off site.
According to public records, the building was acquired by Ridgecroft Properties LLC — an entity registered to Lowery — for $0 in October of 2015. The building had previously sold in 2014 for $2.6 million.
A spokesperson for NAI Wisinski of West Michigan, the Grand Rapids firm that brokered the deal, said that sometimes the county will record transaction prices as $0 if both parties don’t wish for the actual price to be disclosed.
NAI Wisinski declined to provide the sale price.
Applied Imaging acquired the building from 5555 Glenwood Hills Office Equities LLC, a Coldwater-based entity with the same registered agent — Rick Gates — as Prime Office Equities LLC, an investor group that acquired seven West Michigan office buildings in August, as MiBiz reported at the time.
Applied Imaging currently has 248 employees spread between eight offices around the state.
