WALKER — Custom Profile Inc. has acquired the plastic extrusion business from Wisconsin-based Bemis Manufacturing Company.
The tuck-in acquisition by Custom Profile — owned by Grand Rapids-based Blackford Capital — was made to expand the manufacturer of plastic products’ customer-base and market segments, according to a statement.
With the acquisition, Custom Profile hopes to penetrate further into the health care and automotive markets with sanitary medical burette chambers and precisions clips for automotive seats, battery covers and other components.
The company primarily serves the office furniture, appliance and recreational vehicle industries. The deal is expected to close later this month, according to the statement.
“This acquisition is a perfect fit for both Custom Profile and Bemis Manufacturing Company,” John Boeschenstein, CEO of Custom Profile, said in a statement. “Bemis has built an incredibly strong extrusion business which aligns to both our culture and market experience. We are now in the position to provide improved support and expanded capabilities to our customers worldwide.”
Custom Profile was the first company to be acquired under Blackford Capital’s Michigan Prosperity Fund, which targets mature manufacturing companies based in Michigan.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
