SPARTA — The Sparta-based parent company of ChoiceOne Bank announced this morning that CEO James Bosserd plans to retire.
Bosserd took the position with ChoiceOne Financial Services Inc. in 2001. His retirement, effective June 1, will mark the end of a 45-year career in the banking industry.
“Jim has led ChoiceOne to unprecedented growth and milestones as our Chief Executive Officer over the last 15 years. We will miss Jim’s daily presence and leadership,” said Paul Johnson, ChoiceOne’s board chairman, in a statement.
Bosserd will continue serving on the corporation’s board of directors. Kelly Potes, who was appointed last year as ChoiceOne’s president, will assume the duties of CEO when Bosserd retires.
ChoiceOne Bank, which reported total assets of $567.7 million at the end of 2015, has 12 offices across northern Kent, northeastern Ottawa, southern Muskegon and Newaygo counties.
