HOLLAND — DP Fox Ventures LLC, the family office of Dan and Pamella DeVos, today announced its acquisition of the Edge Ice Arena in Holland.
Dan DeVos, majority owner of the Grand Rapids Griffins American Hockey League team, acquired the 100,000-square-foot ice arena at 4444 Holland Ave. for an undisclosed price, according to a statement.
Acquired under the entity DV Hockey LLC, DeVos said his company will begin to explore upgrades for the 18-year-old facility.
“I wanted to see the Edge Ice Arena continue as a viable part of sports and recreation in the Holland area,” DeVos said in the statement.
DeVos’ company, DP Fox Sports & Entertainment LLC, will manage the Edge Ice Arena. DP Fox Sports & Entertainment also operates Griff’s Icehouse at Belknap Park in Grand Rapids, which is the practice home of the Griffins.
The facility, with two NHL-sized ice rinks, has public hours and hosts both Hope College and West Ottawa High School hockey teams, as well as traveling amateur hockey teams.
All events will continue as planned for the time being, DeVos said in the statement.
The Edge Ice Arena brings around $4.4 million to the Holland area economy, according to a Holland Convention and Visitors Bureau study.
