GRAND RAPIDS — West Michigan technology firm DornerWorks Ltd. plans to beef up its Grand Rapids operation through a $1.3 million investment.
DornerWorks, which develops embedded electronics and software engineering solutions, plans to hire an additional 25 workers over the next three years as a result of the expansion, according to a statement.
The Right Place Inc., a Grand Rapids-based economic development firm, assisted the company in securing a $200,000 performance-based grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
DornerWorks serves the aerospace, defense, automotive and other industrial sectors.
The firm also recently won grants through the Small Business Innovation Research program to develop technology for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. Navy.
“We have been asked by several customers to open additional design and development engineering centers close to their locations, but we are dedicated to West Michigan and we wanted to expand here,” David Dorner, president CEO of DornerWorks, said in the statement.
