GRAND RAPIDS — First Companies Inc., a development and general contracting firm based in Grand Rapids, continues to grow a medical office campus on the city’s southeast side.

The firm this week announced the completion of a more than 42,000-square-foot Class A medical office building at the corner of Burton Street and East Paris Avenue, just south of its Heritage Pointe office development.

The newly-constructed building is 75 percent leased out with 9,700-square-feet of space yet to be occupied, according to a statement.

“With the Medical Mile short on space, we saw a movement of doctors wanting to open offices along East Paris early on,” Jeff Baker, First Companies’ CEO, said in a statement. “That is why we initially took the risk of building Heritage Pointe, and later purchased land for this second phase of development and construction. As the need for class-A medical facilities continues, we will invest in opportunities for the growing number of medical businesses we serve.”

Previous buildings constructed by First Companies in the area in the immediate area include a 14,000-square-foot building occupied by Total Health Chiropractic, a more than 40,000-square-foot multi-tenant facility, and a 12,000-square-foot building for West Michigan Eyecare Associates currently under construction.
