Former prime minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, will visit Grand Rapids on June 19 to speak at The Economic Club of Grand Rapids 30th Annual Dinner meeting.
Cameron led the U.K. from 2010 until he announced his resignation in July 2016 following a referendum resulting in the British electorate voting to leave the European Union — an event commonly referred to as Brexit.
Cameron plans to focus his June 19 address on the impacts of Brexit and “the rise of populist politicians and parties at a time of profound global change,” according to a statement.
The Economics Club event will also present Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The Right Place Inc., a Grand Rapids-based economic development organization, with its 2017 Business Person of the Year award. The Meijer Family will also receive the Economics Club’s Slykhouse Community Leadership award at the event.
