An executive with long ties to the West Michigan business community has a new appointment to the leadership team at a Pennsylvania university.
Cheryl Johnson will become vice chancellor for human resources at the University of Pittsburgh, starting in September, according to a statement. She will lead Pitt’s HR department and the University Child Development Center.
Most recently in West Michigan, Johnson worked as COO at Kalamazoo-based JVisions Inc. Previously, she served as vice president of human resources at Walker-based supercenter retailer Meijer Inc. Johnson also led human resources teams at Rockford-based Wolverine World Wide Inc., Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool Corp., the fluid handling products division at Textron Inc. and DuPont.
Johnson currently serves as vice president for human capital services at Kansas State University.
“I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the professionals in human resources as we together serve faculty, staff, and students to realize the shared ambition of offering superior educational programs, advancing frontiers of knowledge and creative endeavor, and sharing expertise with private, community, and public partners,” Johnson said in a statement.
