Grand Rapids-based Great Lakes Scrip Center, a provider of gift cards for fundraising, acquired The Manna Group in Palatine, Ill.
The deal is the company’s second in two years, adding 800 nonprofit organizations to Great Lakes Scrip Center’s fundraising program and giving the company a 95-percent market share, according to a news release. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
“Relationships with the largest national retailers have been a priority since our company was founded more than 22 years ago,” said Jill Whalen, Great Lakes Scrip Center’s vice president of retail partnerships. “The transition of The Manna Group customers to ShopWithScrip will ensure continued growth for our retail partners.”
Great Lakes Scrip Center works with more than 750 major retailers such as Target, Starbucks, Walmart and Speedway. Consumers buy a gift card online and select an organization they want to support. The gift cards have a rebate of between 2 percent and 16 percent that goes to the organization the buyer supports.
In two decades, the company’s ShopWithScrip program contributed to more than 30,000 organizations and raised more than $570 million.
