SAWYER — Another West Michigan craft brewery plans to expand.
Greenbush Brewing Co. announced on Wednesday that it had acquired Fitzgerald’s of Sawyer Inc., a full-service restaurant and bar next door to its original location.
In the space at 5875 Sawyer Road, the brewery intends to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as beer, wine and cider, in what it’s dubbing “Greenbush 3.0, diner version,” according to a post on the company’s Facebook page.
The diner — which executives wrote they expect to open in June — will make for Greenbush Brewing’s third location in downtown Sawyer in Southwest Michigan.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the brewery would handle the necessary alcohol licensing for the site, and executives didn’t respond to requests from MiBiz seeking comment as this story was published.
According to state records, Greenbush Brewing has not yet applied for a brewery license for that location.
Greenbush Brewing attributed the need to expand to the Fitzgerald’s space to increasing demand at its two existing locations, which include the taproom and another facility across the street that’s dubbed the Annex.
The owners of Fitzgerald’s confirmed the sale in a separate post on the company’s Facebook page last week.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
