Herman Miller settles trademark lawsuit with New York office furniture retailer

BY MiBiz Staff Monday, June 20, 2016 11:56am

ZEELAND — Herman Miller Inc. has settled a lawsuit against Madison Seating LLC, a New York-based retailer that allegedly made unauthorized use of the office furniture manufacturers’ trademarks.

Zeeland-based Herman Miller (Nasdaq: MLHR) announced that the case against Madison Seating “has been settled, and all outstanding issues have been resolved,” according to statement.

Herman Miller initiated the lawsuit in August 2015, claiming that Madison Seating had failed to indicate that the Herman Miller products sold in its showroom were used or pre-owned. Since Madison Seating is not an authorized retailer of Herman Miller products, it was unable to sell new products, as MiBiz reported at the time.
