Jim Wilson appointed as Michigan Blood president

Michigan Blood has named long-time health care executive Jim Wilson as president.

Wilson has been chief operating officer at the Grand Rapids blood bank since June 2015 and assumes the role of president Sept. 15. He previously worked as COO at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, president of Spectrum Health’s Blodgett Hospital, and vice president of operations at Spectrum.

Michigan Blood provides blood and blood products for more than 60 hospitals in Michigan. The organization annually collects more than 125,000 units of blood at eight permanent donation sites and through 3,600 blood drives held in 40 counties.
