GRAND RAPIDS — Mill Steel Co. will begin operations at its new facility near the southern U.S. border.
The Grand Rapids-based manufacturer of flat-rolled steel announced this month’s opening of its 100,000-square-foot facility in Houston. The new facility houses three production lines capable of processing 50,000 pound coils up to 60 inches wide, according to a statement.
Mill Steel aims to service its customers in the Southern U.S. and Mexico with the new facility and plans to incorporate additional product lines in the future.
“The addition of this location represents Mill Steel's entry into the significant Southern United States market and furthers our customer and product diversification," said David Samrick, chairman and CEO of Mill Steel. "We are very pleased to enter this robust commercial territory, which allows us to grow and support our existing customer base."
The company declined to disclose how much it invested in the new facility.
