GRAND RAPIDS — Mill Steel Co. announced today that it will consolidate its Louisville-based Steel Structural Products LLC business into its operations at the Port of Indiana, Jeffersonville.
The company, which manufactures and distributes flat-rolled steel, plans to “greatly enhance” efficiencies and reduce freight costs with the move, which is expected to be completed by March 2016, according to a statement. Mill Steel will also relocate approximately 40 jobs to Jeffersonville as a result of the move.
Mill Steel acquired Steel Structural Products in 2014 after the company had encountered financial difficulties, as MiBiz previously reported.
The company also acquired the assets of Indianapolis-based S&S Steel Services Inc. this month, and plans to shift that capacity to its Port of Indiana operations as well.
