North Central Co-op to invest $10.1M in Newaygo County facility

WHITE CLOUD — North Central Co-op will invest $10.1 million in an expansion project at its feed mill in Newaygo County.

The Wabash, Ind.-based manufacturer of animal feed, which also operates distribution and manufacturing plants in Fremont, aims to meet future demand, improve quality control and “enhance on-site biosecurity” with the expansion, according to a statement.

North Central Co-op plans to create three additional jobs with the expansion, which will be supported by tax abatement from the City of White Cloud.

The Right Place Inc., a Grand Rapids-based economic development firm, assisted North Central Co-op in securing the tax abatement and advised the company on its expansion.

This expansion comes on the heels of the announcement of a possible merger between North Central Co-op and Crawfordsville, Ind.-based Ceres Solutions LLP, a cooperative that sells seeds, fuel and other products to farmers. The merger was approved earlier this month by both companies’ boards of directors and now awaits final confirmation from its members, according to a statement.
