GRAND RAPIDS — Open Systems Technologies Inc. of Grand Rapids has acquired Grand Rapids-based design consulting firm Visualhero Design Inc.
According to a statement, the deal allows I.T. firm OST to expand its capabilities. The two companies had partnered on projects in the past.
Andy Van Solkema founded Visualhero Design in 2005. Clients of the 12-person company include Apple, Nest, Amazon Web Services, and others, according to a statement. The firm provided human-centered design services for prototyping and user experience.
Van Solkema will become chief designer for OST.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Since May 2012, OST has operated as a subsidiary of Anchorage, Alaska-based Koniag Inc., an investment firm owned by the Alaska Natives. It is also designated as a minority business enterprise.
