Byron Center-based SpartanNash Co. (Nasdaq: SPTN) announced today it will become the primary wholesaler for western Wisconsin grocery chain Gordy’s Market.

The food distribution company signed a long-term contract to be the primary wholesaler to all of Gordy’s 21 stores and 13 gas stations beginning in mid-February and ramping up by May, according to a statement.

SpartanNash will serve the stores out of its St. Cloud, Minn. distribution center.

“Gordy’s is a perfect fit for our distribution operations,” said SpartanNash CEO Dennis Eidson in a statement. “We have years of experience meeting our Wisconsin customers’ preferences, our St. Cloud DC is strategically located to minimize food miles, and we are positioned to help Gordy’s grow. We see this agreement as a win-win for both parties.”
