GRAND RAPIDS — The Wealthy Street corridor restaurant scene continues to grow.
Traverse City-based Asian and Mexican-inspired restaurant Georgina’s Fusion Cuisine expects to open a location at 724 Wealthy St. SE, on the southwest corner of Wealthy Street and Charles Avenue.
“When I visited Grand Rapids, I liked how local people were walking around; I don’t have that type of atmosphere year-round in Traverse City,” Georgina’s owner and chef Anthony Craig said in a statement.
Craig anticipates opening the Grand Rapids location this summer. State records show a liquor licence pending for the site.
Two apartments are planned for the second floor of the building, according to a statement.
The building was formerly home to vintage store Phil’s Stuff LLC, whose owner is selling the property to Craig at an undisclosed price.
Todd Leinberger, an associate realtor at Grand Rapids-based commercial brokerage NAI Wisinski of West Michigan, represented Craig in the deal. The seller was represented by Dave Zeemering of Ada-based Victory Realty Group LLC.
Georgina’s will join other popular restaurants on the burgeoning Wealthy Street corridor west of Eastern Avenue such as The Winchester, Donkey Taqueria and Jonny B’z.
“724 Wealthy Street seemed like the perfect location for Georgina’s because it is close to downtown and in a vibrant corridor,” NAI Wisinski’s Leinberger said in a statement.
