LUDINGTON — Manufacturer Whitehall Industries of Ludington has been acquired by a Japanese aluminum supplier.

According to a statement, SRS Industries LLC, which does business as Whitehall Industries, was acquired in May by UACJ Corp., a Tokyo-based aluminum manufacturer.

Whitehall Industries is a vertically integrated supplier of extruded and fabricated aluminum components and assemblies for the automotive industry. The company makes a range of products, including structural components, sunroof guides, convertible top components, and running boards, among others. Its customers include U.S., Japanese and European OEMs, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in the U.S. and Mexico.

The existing management team remained with the company as part of the deal. Birmingham, Mich.-based Quarton International served as exclusive financial adviser to SRS Industries on the deal.

Overall, Whitehall Industries employs 800 people, about 500 of whom are based in Michigan.

“In selecting UACJ, we are partnering with a well-capitalized, multi-national corporation that shares our values and has the resources to further accelerate Whitehall’s growth,” said Whitehall owner and CEO Yogen Rahangdale.
