ROCKFORD — More than a year into his tenure at Wolverine World Wide Inc., Tom Kennedy will now lead the global footwear manufacturer’s Sperry brand.
Sperry, a “lifestyle” brand most famous for its iconic boat shoes, comprises Rockford-based Wolverine’s second largest brand.
Kennedy previously served as president of apparel and accessories and has worked in the retail and apparel industry for 20 years. He will report to Richie Woodworth, president of the Wolverine Boston Group, according to a statement.
“I’m incredibly honored to take on this new role at Sperry, a truly iconic American brand that has tremendous global opportunities,” Kennedy said in the statement.
Kennedy’s appointment comes on the heels of several other changes to Wolverine’s executive leadership.
Earlier this month, the company hired Todd Spaletto, a former executive from The North Face, to serve as president of the Wolverine Outdoor and Lifestyle Group, as MiBiz reported.
Wolverine also promoted Jim Zwiers to executive vice president after 19 years with the organization. Both Spaletto and Zwiers will report directly to Wolverine CEO and President Blake Krueger.
