Concerto Health to close three Michigan locations, issue layoffs

Citing the loss of a key contract, Concerto Health Inc. plans to close three locations in Michigan, including an office in Kalamazoo.

An Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based provider of specialized care for frail elderly patients who are dual eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, Concerto Health informed the state in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice that more than 150 employees “will be separated from employment as of June 30, 2019.”

The WARN Act notice lists 76 employees at Concerto Health’s Kalamazoo clinic. They include RNs, case managers, care coordinators and office staff. Affected employees also work at locations in Southfield and Center Line.

The May 1 WARN Act notice indicated that another dozen home-based employees in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio would lose their jobs.

Concerto Health attributed the “difficult decision” to permanently close all of Michigan location to “the recent termination of a key contract effective May 31.”
