German tech firm to open Grand Rapids office

 

GRAND RAPIDS — AUVESY GmbH, a German-based provider of data management software for industrial automation, plans to make West Michigan its home base for expansion into the U.S.

Working with The Right Place Inc. and Hillary Taatjes Woznick and Doug Taatjes of NAI Wisinski, AUVESY signed a lease for space in the McKay Tower in downtown Grand Rapids for the headquarters of a newly formed U.S subsidiary.

“Our expansion into the USA is an integral milestone in the pursuit of our global strategy,” AUVESY CEO Tim Weckerle said in a statement. “AUVESY has always been a global player, ever since its foundation in 2007. The company has extensive experience in the American market. Establishing our own subsidiary is the next logical and important step in order to better extend, serve and support our client-base. The presence of a local office helps us to further cement our status as the leading data management software provider.”

The company has been handling a growing of volume of business and technical support for the its data management software system through partners based in Washington and Pennsylvania.

Robert Glaser, a shareholder in the firm who previously held the position of director of research and development, will lead the new Grand Rapid-based subsidiary and recruit staff.

“We aim to gradually expand our team, especially with regard to recruiting additional sales representatives,” Glaser said.
