Elected officials in Grand Rapids likely will consider developing and building a new parking structure in the city’s central business district.

GRAND RAPIDS –– In considering redevelopment plans for public property at 201 Market Avenue, the city weighed drastically different options.

Retailers have started to open up shop in the new Fulton Square mixed-use development in Grand Rapids’ Fulton Heights neighborhood.

An Atlanta-based media company with significant holdings in West Michigan voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this week, amid an ongoing industry upheaval that’s also affecting competing operators.

After months of due diligence, Inner City Christian Federation (ICCF) announced Wednesday morning that it had finalized its acquisition of 177 residential properties in the West Michigan and Lansing areas.

GRAND RAPIDS — A lawsuit filed by Grand Rapids-based Lambert, Edwards & Associates Inc. against a former executive has been dismissed, according to statements from both parties.

The retail industry has been on a wild ride for 2017, both in West Michigan and nationally, as around 5,000 stores reportedly closed up shop. As such, many industry experts believe this year saw e-commerce take its biggest bite out of traditional brick-and-mortar retail. But as retailers gear up for the holiday shopping season, William Hallan with the Lansing-based Michigan Retailers Association contends the broader industry will continue to evolve. Hallan, who projects a strong holiday shopping season this year, spoke with MiBiz regarding his membership’s outlook for the rest of 2017 and beyond.
